Thai Massage: Thai bodywork (Nuat Boran) combines the art of massage, yoga, and energy work in one harmonious dance. Thai bodywork uses conscious touch, movement, breathing and rhythm to achieve therapeutic effects. Nuat Boran is an ancient art that has been used as therapy for centuries in Thailand. Thais believe that stiffness in the muscles and joints are blockages that will cause disease. Through range of motion movement, rhythmic rocking and pressure along the meridians, a deep relaxation occurs in the individual enabling the muscles to release blockages. The meditative components of Thai yoga massage make it different from other bodywork therapies. A concept of “loving kindness”, or metta, is at the heart of the practice and can be felt throughout the treatment. Many say this treatment is like assisted yoga, but it is SO much more.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) - MLD is a gentle ype of massage which in encourages the natural circulation of lymph through the body. The light rhythmical massage encourages the lymphatic system to eliminate metabolic waste products, excess fluid and bacteria. The lymphatic system is composed of lymph vessels, lymph nodes, and organs. Part of the body’s defense system, the lymph nodes remove microorganisms and other foreign substances. They act as a filtration system that keeps particulate matter, such as bacteria, from entering the bloodstream. Stimulating the lymphatic system through manual lymphatic drainage will activate all of the above functions as well as encourage fluid circulation and cell regeneration. Both actions promote detoxification, facilitate healing and support the immune system.
